There are nothing to say about Firefox web browser. This browser is all time boss browser. Firefox bringing all kinds of awesomeness to make browsing better. There are a lot of great stuff on the web, Firefox is full of ways to help you keep track. You may have installed countless ad-ons in Firefox to enhance your experience, but if you really have to hack your way into the about:config. The about:config page contains most of Firefox configuration option. And it is the most effective and powerful way to tweak Firefox performance. Here are some use full tweaks.
When you type about:config on your browser address bar a warning page will be appeared. Click the “I am careful, I promise” button to proceed. But before change anythings, please backup about:config file in case you make a change that messes everything up. Make a copy of pref.js which is in the Firefox profile folder. If you are using windows you have to set ‘Show hidden files and folder’ from folder option.

- Disable the session restore function: Firefox saves automatically your session in every 10 seconds so that whenever it crashed, it can replace all your tabs. If you want think this is irritating for you then disable the function. Find “browser.sessionrestore.enable” on about:config page. Modified the value false to disable this session restore function.
- Disable anti-virus scanning: For windows user by default, Firefox automatically scan the downloaded file with the default antivirus to make sure it’s free to virus. But when you download a large file, it would take a long time for the scanning process to complete. That’s why you want to disable the anti-virus scanning. Find the “browser.download.manager.scanWhendone” line and change the value to ‘false’ if you want to disable it.
- Handling java script popups: If you want to open all new windows(popup window) in a new tabs, you can specify via the “browser.Link.open_newwindow.restriction” settings. By default it set on ’2′ which open all java script window the same way Firefox handle new window. Set the value to ’1′.
- Enable spell checking in all text field: In Firefox the default spell checking checks only multi-line text boxes. If you want to set spell check for single line text boxes, find the “layout.spellcheckDefault” and change the value ’2′.
- Speed up your Firefox browser: There are several tricks required for this. Find
“network.http.pipelining” and set the value “true”
Find “network.http.proxy.pipelining” and set the value “true”
Find “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” and set the value higher than 4 and lower than 8.
Find “network.http.max-connection-per-server” and set the value 32.
Auto exports Firefox bookmarks.html: For that find “browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML” and set the value “true”.
